Accuracy matters on a site about financial data. When we make a mistake, we correct it and say so.
How to report an error
Use our contact page. Include the page address, what you believe is wrong, and, if possible, a source that supports the correction.
How we handle reports
- We review every report against the original source, such as the Treasury’s published data or TreasuryDirect’s formulas.
- If we confirm an error, we correct it as quickly as we can.
- For substantive errors, such as a wrong formula, a wrong historical value or a misleading explanation, we add a dated correction note to the affected page describing what changed.
- Minor fixes such as typos or formatting are corrected without a note.
Data errors
Our rate data is imported automatically from the U.S. Department of the Treasury. If the Treasury revises a published value, our next refresh replaces the stored value with the revised one. If our software displays a value incorrectly, we fix the software, re-check the affected data and note the correction on our methodology page.
Calculator errors
If a calculator produces an incorrect result, we correct the formula, add a test for the case that failed, and note the correction on the calculator’s page with the date.
